The chronicles of Thimble & Patch: How founder Tanu Arya redefined on-demand customized fashion and executive corporate gifting.
The Spark
"I saw endless racks of paper-thin garments that lost their shape after two washes, and corporate gift bags destined for landfills. We forgot the weight of real cloth."
In late 2022, Tanu Arya stood in a garment warehouse observing pallets of 140 GSM synthetic poly-blend tees. They were cheap to mass-produce, but possessed neither tactile soul nor longevity. At the same time, corporations were distributing tacky, plastic conference giveaways that employees discarded immediately.
Tanu recognized an urgent void: modern consumers and discerning founders didn’t want disposable logos; they wanted structural luxury. Garments cut with architectural boxiness, sewn with thick ribbing, and personalized with deliberate intent.
The Thimble

Why name the brand "Thimble"? In traditional British and European tailoring houses, the thimble is the hallmark of the master tailor. It represents the quiet, obsessive dedication to garment physics: drop-shoulder seams that hang true, pre-shrunk loopknit fleece that withstands years of laundering, and collar ribbing that never bakes or warps.
Under Tanu Arya’s creative direction, Thimble and Patch discarded flimsy fabrics and engineered standard foundations at 240 GSM to 380 GSM—heavy French terry, silicon-washed bio-combed cotton, and premium winter fleece.
The Patch
"A uniform makes everyone identical. A patch declares who you are."
If the Thimble is discipline, the Patch is liberation. Tanu drew deep inspiration from underground street culture, tactical military insignias, and vintage biker jackets where every patch told an undeniable chapter of the wearer’s journey.
Instead of forcing customers into pre-printed mass graphics, Tanu conceived "The Patch Studio"—an interactive 2D atelier where anyone can take an immaculate foundation piece and place monograms, coordinates, or custom artwork exactly where they envision it: left chest, right wrist, back neck, or the cuff of a luxury heavyweight hoodie.

Today, Thimble and Patch operates on a unique dual-engine model pioneered by Tanu Arya in Ghaziabad. By keeping clean, pristine luxury foundation garments in stock and operating high-precision bespoke needlecraft workflows in-house, the brand eliminates the environmental waste of dead inventory.
By day, the atelier crafts single bespoke pieces for streetwear connoisseurs across India. By night, it utilizes the same master finishing to produce 500-piece executive onboarding boxes for forward-thinking technology enterprises.
